SITE DEMOLITION IS COMPLETE
Mansion Restoration has started
Condominium Construction Slated for Spring, 2008
Demolition of 1824 North Second Street began on Thursday, January 3.
The two story frame house was about 75 years old and had been converted and used as office space prior to SRE purchasing the site. Demolition was done by Fitz & Smith Inc., and included complete removal of the structure and backfilling of the foundation. The process took about a week.
“Demolition of this building will open the view from Second Street across the sculpture garden to be created between the mansion and new condominium building, offering an appealing view of the river from the Tracy Manor site”, said Jack Kay, CEO of Susquehanna Real Estate.
Historic restoration of the Tracy Mansion is underway, with a focus on the Carriage House along Meunch Street. The carriage house will be converted into a sales showroom for a kickoff opening event in the spring. The showroom will house a scale model of the site as well as many of the features that will be available in the condo suites.
Char Magaro, owner of Bella Mundo in Shipoke, plans to locate her new restaurant, Char’s at Tracy Manor in the Front Street portion of the mansion. The restaurant, featuring a waterfront outside terrace, will occupy most of the first floor of the mansion and the remainder of the building will be developed as additional condominium suites. A surface parking lot will be added along Second Street.
Eight of the 32 condominium suites have already been reserved by prospective buyers. RSR Realtors of Lemoyne represents the owner for both the commercial and residential sales. |
